Accompanied by a guide this tour explores Tanjore with its superb Big Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and world's largest Nandi which is a remarkable ancient sculpture. The big Brihadeshwara Temple has UNESCO world heritage recognition and provides a showcase of Indian architectural brilliance. The temple has some unique features which include a tall tower that sits over the inner shrine.

The tour proceeds with a visit to the Tanjore Palace which houses a museum and art gallery. The Palace provides insight into the past splendor and interestingly a royal descendent still lives at this Palace. Your guide will explain as you walk through this atmospheric complex with its large corridors, spacious halls and shady courtyards.

Visit the Royal Palace Museum with exhibits of royal memorabilia most of it dating to the early 19th Century when Sefoji II ruled here.

The art gallery has a remarkable collection of bronze icons, stone sculptures, paintings and other artifacts belonging to the Chola and the Nayaka periods. This art gallery also provides historical information about Tamil Nadu between the 9th century and 18th century AD. There are exhibits of stone and bronze sculptures that are housed in three sections. The Pooja Mahal specializes in stone sculptures, Indira Mandir displays arsenals and the Rama Chowdam Hall displays bronze sculptures
