Western and Eastern Group of Temples
 

Temples at Khajuraho are widely known for their exquisite architecture and erotic sculptures. The Khajuraho temples, are recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site, and they were built between 950 to 1050 AD. The highlights  include the Kandariya Mahadev Temple as this is the tallest of the temples, not only in the western group but in the entire collection. It is believed to have been built around 1025 AD in honor of Lord Shiva. This 30-metre-high structure features erotic carvings. Another famous temple is the Lakshmana Temple which is among the most famous on account of its erotic sculpture collection.The Eastern Group consists of four temples that are scattered around the village. Amongst the four Temples visited take note of  the inscription on the statue of the Monkey God that dates The Hanuman Temple to 922 AD. Another ancient Temple is the granite Brahma Temple believed to be one of the oldest in Khajuraho.
