Mandawa is located in the Shekhawati region and is well known because of its beautiful dilapidated mansions. Taking a walking tour is the best way of seeing the painted frescoes. The subject matter of the painted walls vary and some have relatively modern themes such as an aeroplane, a man using a telephone and a strongman pulling a car. Some themes are historical such as the British warfare mural painted on the Thakurji Temple. Camel rides and cart rides can also be arranged here and could be a fun way to explore the town.Castle Mandawa the fort-palace has been converted into a hotel. The roof of Castle Mandawa is one of the highest places in the town and provides wonderful views of the surrounding town.
