Tipu Sultan's Wooden Palace

Construction of Tipu Sultan's Wooden Palace in Bangalore was started by Haider Ali and completed by Tipu Sultan in 1791. It is built entirely of Teak wood. The palace was a summer retreat for Tipu Sultan. It is a two-storied ornate wooden structure with pillars, arches and balconies flanked by gardens on either sides of the palace. In the quadrant of the Palace there is a Ganesha Temple and this illustrates Tipu Sultan's religious tolerance. The palace was used as a Secretariat by the British after Tipu Sultan's death.
