A visit to the coastal village of Kovalam is the ideal location for a beach holiday as this is Kerala’s most developed beach resort. Surfboards can be rented on the beach or you can take a ride on a traditional kettumaran which is still widely used by the fishermen of Kovalam. Kovalam consists of four beaches called Lighthouse Beach, Hawah Beach, Kovalam Beach and Samudra Beach. Please do be aware that during monsoon season swimming at these beaches is not always safe. Do follow the warnings and safety flags at all times. Kovalam is the perfect place to relax and enjoy an Ayurvedic spa treatment as there are qualified practitioners and approved accredited government clinics available here
