A sightseeing tour of Bidar would start with a visit to Bidar Fort. The Fort has five darwazas (gates) with imposing bastions that lead into the town. Built in the 8th century and later renovated again in the 14th century today there are remaining ruins of the bastions, gates, royal baths, kitchens, audience halls, and pleasure pavilions. The Solah Khamba Mosque, built in 1327, is a prominent structure inside the fort. Other attractions include the public Audience Hall with its original wooden columns and a chamber adorned with magnificent tile mosaics and in-laid mother-of-pearl decoration. There is also the Madrassa of Mahmud Gawan a former theological college which has an impressive architecture with its background of domes. Another place to include in your visit is the Chowbara a 71 feet-tall tower, located at the heart of the town from where one can see the entire city.
