Athirapally is an area of rivers and forests and great waterfalls. The Athirapally waterfall is the largest waterfall in Kerala and is therefore a major tourist attraction. Located in the Sholayar ranges and covered in lush green forest cover this area is great place to enjoy nature and go for a walk. Athirapally Waterfall is one of several scenic waterfalls that can be visited here. This area provides a habitat for many important species, including the rare Cochin Forest Cane Turtle, the endangered Great Indian Hornbill, the Lion-Tailed Macaque and the Nilgiri Langur.
