Accompanied by a guide this tour explores Trichy which had a very vibrant past. The city is is thought to be around 2500 years old.

During the tour you will visit the three highlights of Trichy. The order will be decided according to the time of day the tour is taken as the two temples are closed from 12 noon to 4pm.

The Rock Fort Temple is a prominent landmark. The Rock Fort is located on a massive rocky outcrop. Dedicated to Lord Shiva this gigantic temple has a hall with one hundred pillars and a Vimana covered with gold. On the southern face of the rock, there are several beautifully carved rock-cut cave temples of the Pallava period. Before continuing your tour may wish to explore the local markets which are located close by.

Then travel 6 kilometers to The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam which is situated on a large island in the centre of the Cauvery River. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and it is the largest temple in the world after the famous Angkor Vat in Cambodia. The temple is built on an island in the middle of the Kaveri river. With your guide to explain explore this temple complex comprising of seven rectangular-walled courtyards and 21 Gopurams. The temple is a visual treat and contains some of the best rock carvings in India.

If you start the tour in the morning you will also stop at Amma Mandapam on the banks of the Cauvery River where families perform rituals for deceased family members.
