Accompanied by a guide explore Madurai, the oldest as well as the second largest city of Tamil Nadu, The first place to visited is the Meenakshi-Sundareswarar temple located inthe heart of the city This is home of the religious and cultural life of the city. Spread out over a large area the temple is an outstanding example of Vijayanagar temple architecture. Your guide will explain the story of the beautiful princess of Madurai and her marriage to Lord Shiva. Visit the Kilikootu Mandapam (hall of parrots) where some beautiful sculptures can be seen. The shrine dedicated to the goddess is just beyond this hall and entry is restricted only to Hindus. You may then visit the art gallery located in the 1000 Pillar Hall. The gallery contains beautiful stone and brass images.
North of the temple is the location of Madurai Markets and at some stage during the tour your guide may show you the gorgeous flower market.
Continue your tour with a visit to The Gandhi Museum established in memory of the Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.The museum is located inside the Palace of Rani Mangammal .

Conclude your tour with a visit to the grandiose Thirumalai Nayak Palace which was built by King Thirumalai Nayak in 1636 AD. The palace was designed by an Italian Architect and served as the residence of the King.
