Accompanied by a guide this tour exploring Mumbai includes the following attractions:
Start this tour with the Gateway of India. It was built as a triumphal arch to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary an iconic Mumbai monument. Ironically, when the Raj ended in 1947, this colonial symbol also became known as the place where the last of the British ships set sail back to England.
St. Thomas Cathedral, Mumbai was the first Anglican church in Mumbai (then called Bombay), and it was built in 1718 to improve the "moral standards" of the growing British settlement. It is located close to the Flora Fountain.
Continue your sightseeing with a stop at the Prince of Wales Museum. The Museum was constructed under the instructions of George Wittet. The building has grand style of architecture and is adorned with a huge and impressive dome. The interiors of the building are divided into three main sections - Art section, Archaeology section and Natural History section. The exhibits are rare in their quality and therefore it will be hard to leave.
Continue your sightseeing by seeing Bombay University and the Oval Maiden, Town Hall, Victoria Terminus, and Crawford Market.
Finally visit Dhobi Ghat a unique feature of Mumbai. The dhobi is a traditional laundryman, who will collect your dirty linen, wash it, and return it neatly pressed to your doorstep. Dhobi Ghat consists of row upon row of concrete wash pens. Here families work together to clean clothes as their fathers have before them.
