With an English speaking guide enjoy a full day of sightseeing in Chennai. Start your day by a visit to Fort St.George which was built by the British and today houses the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. Nearby the St. Mary’s Church and graveyard highlights the local British history. The Government Museum and Art Gallery is located in the pantheon complex comprises of several British built buildings. The Museum has a good collection of paintings and sculptures, both traditional and modern. The bronze art in the gallery here is most impressive. The tour will also include The Kapaleeshwarar Temple which was built in the eight-century. It is regarded by Hindus to be one of the most sacred Hindu sites in Southern India. Finally take a stroll down Marina Beach as this is one of the longest urban beaches in the world culminating in a visit to St Thomas Basilica. St.Thomas Basilica is built over the tomb of St.Thomas who was one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ. He is believed to have come to India in A.D.52 and was buried here.
